Checked in late last night. Great breakfast buffet, they had so many varieties of food here in Carins, but Leslie said not to order the porridge as they don’t warm up the milk/ water well and it comes out lousy. Shortly after Leslie’s lousy porridge little miss train wreck from Georgia lost both of her shoes off of the boat that we were taking to the barrier reef. Her husband lost his hat 🎩 during embarkation, and Neil and I were giggling the whole time.
Leslie & Irwin and Scott and Joyce are our new BFF’s. They are from one of the boroughs, and live in Marlborough, NJ, and are a blast to hang out with. Leslie, Irwin, Neil and I are the only ones on this particular tour that are still working. Everyone else is retired.
After a great breakfast, Neil went and rented an underwater camera, as today we were going to the Great Barrier Reef, and hanging out for like 3 hours on a pontoon, and Neil was going snorkeling.
After about a 2 hour boat ride — it was really far out there — we arrived at our “pontoon “, which, in my vernacular would be “platform in the middle of the ocean”. I went into the semi-submersible— aka mini submarine.
After the submersible, we had some lunch and Neil went on his scuba adventure
He was out for like 45 minutes and came back so pumped. He was so excited that he had experienced that. No pics for a week or so, as you know how particular he gets about his pictures.
We had some coffee and tea on the ride back to town. Tonight was a group dinner at a decent restaurant that I will post on Instagram. After dinner a bunch of us went to the night market where I carefully procured two beautiful 🧣 scarfs. Early morning tomorrow. Off to the rain forest. Will write more from the ship next week.
