Kakadu National Park is about a 3 hour drive outside of Darwin. Certainly the most remote place we’ve ever been. It’s a huge park, 100% run by the aboriginals. We arrived on Halloween, had some dinner and boy is it hot. Today we woke up at 7am to about 80 degrees Fahrenheit and it’s 101 right now at 4pm. We’re doing laundry as we have the afternoon free. Next laundry will be on the ship.
As you can see, we took a bit of a boat ride in crocodile 🐊 infested waters. We saw many, but it being so hot, most were at the bottom of the river. We also saw dozens and dozens of bird 🦅 🐦 species , including pelicans, white 🦅 eagles, singing 🦆 ducks. We even saw buffalo 🐃- not bison, but real buffalo, wild horses 🐎 and feral pigs.
Beautiful place, but very hot with flies everywhere, including up your nose, in your ear and mouth, everywhere. No need to ever come back here. Quite remote, hot, sticky, terrible food but the drinks are wet and tasty. Once we finish laundry we are likely to try some. 😎
